(๐ŸŒˆAnother Cryptic Story ๐Ÿ˜⭐✨)

I went camping with a friend.

After we set up a tent and messed around a bit, I went exploring the surrounding area by myself.
Soon I stumbled upon a suspension bridge. It was long and quite high above a river. I knew at a glance that I would be screwed if I fell from it.

However, I decided to walk across the bridge just for the thrill of it.
But while I was still walking on it, one of the wooden boards suddenly gave way under my feet, and I fell!

Luckily though, the safety net under the bridge caught me and I survived without a scratch.

My friend heard me scream and came running to help me.

Me: "I thought I was finished!"
My friend: "Are you really OK? I can't believe it! They should have fixed that rope!"

I can't figure this one out! I will have to check back when others have made their guesses, too. I'll be scratching my head until then lol
It's OK because I myself always can't figure out cryptic stories by myself!๐Ÿ˜†๐ŸŽต✨ Thank you for leaving a comment though! I am looking forward to reading the guesses made by others too!๐Ÿ’–✨

The only thing I can think of is maybe the friend planned for the ropes holding the bridge up to break? But that seems like a lot of work ๐Ÿคฃ Or this has happened before with someone else, except last time it was the ropes and not the boards.

Hmm... so..
The narrator fell due to a broken board. Not by a failed rope.
Why did the friend thought he fell because of a broken rope?
It could be an innocent guess, I but the friend is definitely sus. Very sus.

Maybe the friend was aware of a broken rope on the bridge and purposefully kept quiet?
Or the friend did something to a rope hoping that something bad will happen to the narrator when he crossed the bridge?

This is hard to guess., Saya-san. Very nice. I can't wait for the answer.

I think the ropes were all ripped and acted as a net that caught the narrator. The bridge didn't actually have a real net.
I don't think the friend did it, because that would mean the friend predicted that the narrator would find it and take a chance at crossing it.
Hmmm... very suspicious that the friend knew exactly what went wrong with the brigde...

Is it possible that this was a planned murder? It is within the realm of possibility that, that specific wooden floorboard had the rope tied around it, and when the narrator was on that platform his friend immediately pulled it for him to fall, but backfired? hence he said "They should have fixed that rope?" I think He wasn't actually concerned, but rather disappointed because his plan failed.

Yet, I think this is one of those instances that I might have overlooked something or just overthinking.

(P.S. First time commenting. Been an avid reader since I was in Sixth Grade until now that I'm in college. Keep it up Saya-sama! !)

Is there a government regulation that suspension bridges in Japan must have safety nets under them? The authorities in charge of the Golden Gate bridge in US installed safety nets under the bridge to deal with suicides by jumping.

There are four things to ponder.

- The friend might not know about the bridge's safety net
- The narrator unnecessarily took a risk just for a thrill
- Some wooden boards are held by ropes. Hence, the friend's reaction. Innocent or not, one can infer immediately that it is caused by a faulty rope.
- Imagine a wooden board held onto its sides. You could just untie or cut one side and align it well so that it still appears normal, until a human weight is applied on it and "gives way".

I think the friend deliberately sabotaged the rope, since they somehow immediately knew there was a problem with it, even though the victim thought it was just due to the board breaking.
๐ŸŒˆ ANSWER
I will give you an answer I know of.๐Ÿ˜Š✨
The narrator fell because some wooden boards gave way under his feet.
But his friend, who didn't see him when he fell, assumed that he fell because of a problem with a rope.

So the friend did something to a rope hoping the narrator would fall from the bridge and get killed, but the plan failed. But the friend doesn't know this and thinks his plan was successful. That's why he said the last line.
The former is correct!๐Ÿ˜†✨ Please see the answer I gave below!
You are spot-on! You are so good at this! Well done!๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ‘✨
Your answer is so interesting! I have never thought of that!๐Ÿ˜†๐Ÿ’Ž✨ Thank you!
Indeed! The narrator should stop calling him a friend ๐Ÿ˜†✨
A great guess! His friend indeed tried to get him killed!๐Ÿ˜†✨ I am so glad you left a comment! It's so wonderful to hear from you๐Ÿ’–✨I hope your study is going well at college and stay safe ⭐✨
I am not familiar with the law but in Japan a great number of people kill themselves every year, and it's possible they attach such safety nets to bridges which are popular suicide spots. ๐Ÿ˜†✨

Exactly ๐Ÿ˜†๐Ÿ’ž✨Thank you for your guess! Well done!๐Ÿ‘✨

Did not get this one, though I kept wondering why the friend mentioned the rope. Anyway, loved the picture.
I thought putting something funny at the bottom of each post might be a good idea because so many people get scared after reading my blog๐Ÿ˜†✨it might help them feel a little better!

Thank you so much for your comment!๐ŸŒˆ✨

Hi Saya!! I'm not good with cryptic stories so every time I immediately go to read the comments ๐Ÿ˜‚ this one was especially hard to guess, I didn't suspect the friend in the slightest!
Thank you so much, it's always a pleasure to come back here and see you posted new stories ๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ’• love the picture at the end

i didnt notice the discrepency, so i only thought it suspicious that a rope should be suspect at all. ah well, i got the idea! i love camping, it'd be fun to go in japan some time. but wandering off by oneself is dangerous! the friend didnt have to sabotage a bridge, the friend just needed to let the narrator get lost in the mountains!

pfff i love the funny pictures you add. OWARI!
Camping has become so popular in Japan since the COVID started !๐Ÿ˜†⭐ There are many excellent camping sites here, so you should definitely go visit one of them!

You could have done much better than that friend, especially you know so well how to kill people (in your dreams, that is) ๐Ÿคฃ✨

I am glad you mentioned the picture. It would have been a bit awkward if I was the only person who thought it was funny!๐Ÿ˜†๐ŸŒˆ๐Ÿ’“

Thank you so much for your comment!

in the US too! but ive been camping since i was really little, both of my parents are outdoorsy like that. that's also why i know about wilderness safety! people go missing a lot because they make basic mistakes like not telling people where they're going and/or going off trail. its so easy to get lost, thats why i joked about the murderer not needing a sabotage, haha.

it kinda reminds me of how in the US the Missing 411 cases got popular as something scary and mysterious, but the tragic truth is that accidents happen and people go missing or die in the wild sometimes. ghosts and murderers aren't needed when being ill prepared and ill informed kill more easily.

i do like the pictures! you're right, its a nice little pickmeup at the end of a scary story, and they're often so funny, i really like your sense of humor!
