(๐Another Cryptic Story ๐⭐✨)
I went camping with a friend.
After we set up a tent and messed around a bit, I went exploring the surrounding area by myself.
Soon I stumbled upon a suspension bridge. It was long and quite high above a river. I knew at a glance that I would be screwed if I fell from it.
However, I decided to walk across the bridge just for the thrill of it.
But while I was still walking on it, one of the wooden boards suddenly gave way under my feet, and I fell!
Luckily though, the safety net under the bridge caught me and I survived without a scratch.
My friend heard me scream and came running to help me.
Me: "I thought I was finished!"
My friend: "Are you really OK? I can't believe it! They should have fixed that rope!"

The narrator fell due to a broken board. Not by a failed rope.
Why did the friend thought he fell because of a broken rope?
It could be an innocent guess, I but the friend is definitely sus. Very sus.
Maybe the friend was aware of a broken rope on the bridge and purposefully kept quiet?
Or the friend did something to a rope hoping that something bad will happen to the narrator when he crossed the bridge?
This is hard to guess., Saya-san. Very nice. I can't wait for the answer.

I don't think the friend did it, because that would mean the friend predicted that the narrator would find it and take a chance at crossing it.
Yet, I think this is one of those instances that I might have overlooked something or just overthinking.
(P.S. First time commenting. Been an avid reader since I was in Sixth Grade until now that I'm in college. Keep it up Saya-sama! !)
There are four things to ponder.
- The friend might not know about the bridge's safety net
- The narrator unnecessarily took a risk just for a thrill
- Some wooden boards are held by ropes. Hence, the friend's reaction. Innocent or not, one can infer immediately that it is caused by a faulty rope.
- Imagine a wooden board held onto its sides. You could just untie or cut one side and align it well so that it still appears normal, until a human weight is applied on it and "gives way".
I will give you an answer I know of.๐✨
The narrator fell because some wooden boards gave way under his feet.
But his friend, who didn't see him when he fell, assumed that he fell because of a problem with a rope.
So the friend did something to a rope hoping the narrator would fall from the bridge and get killed, but the plan failed. But the friend doesn't know this and thinks his plan was successful. That's why he said the last line.

pfff i love the funny pictures you add. OWARI!
You could have done much better than that friend, especially you know so well how to kill people (in your dreams, that is) ๐คฃ✨
I am glad you mentioned the picture. It would have been a bit awkward if I was the only person who thought it was funny!๐๐๐
Thank you so much for your comment!
it kinda reminds me of how in the US the Missing 411 cases got popular as something scary and mysterious, but the tragic truth is that accidents happen and people go missing or die in the wild sometimes. ghosts and murderers aren't needed when being ill prepared and ill informed kill more easily.
i do like the pictures! you're right, its a nice little pickmeup at the end of a scary story, and they're often so funny, i really like your sense of humor!
