πŸ’–This is a Cryptic StoryπŸ’–

The man had lost his son in a hit-and-run accident, three months ago.

Being a widower, his son, whom he had raised all by himself, was the only reason he lived.
He hated the driver responsible so much that he wanted to kill him.

The culprit had been caught, but now that he was in custody, getting revenge would be almost impossible.

One day, the man came across an old bookshop and bought a book titled “Summoning Demons.”

He didn’t believe in such things, but he couldn’t forgive himself for his powerless to do anything.
So he decided to try summoning a demon.

To his astonishment, a demon actually appeared.

Demon: “…What is it you desire?”

Man: “I want revenge on the bastard who killed my son! I want him dead!”

Demon: “…I will take your death as payment in advance. Do you agree?”

Having lost his son, the man no longer had any reason to value his own life.

Man: “Yes… That’s fine with me…”

Demon: “…Then our contract is sealed.”

A few days later, the man heard that the hit-and-run driver had died under mysterious circumstances.
He remembered his contract with the demon.

Man: “Wasn’t my death supposed to be the payment in advance? But I’m still alive… Does that mean the demon didn’t kill him? Was that demon lying to me?”

Several days passed, and the man continued to wonder about what had happened.

Then, the demon appeared before him once again.

Demon: “…The contract has been fulfilled… Farewell…”

Man: “Wait! You said my death would be the payment! So why am I still alive?!”

Demon: “…Indeed, your death was the agreed-upon payment. And naturally, I collected it in full.”

The demon laughed, and having uttered those final words, vanished into thin air.

This one is very tricky. I have considered that the father was one that killed his own son by accident and that the demon was a delusion brought on by not accepting his responsibility for his son's death. He is trapped in a punishment of his own creation.

Was the msn not the boy's father? Did the demon killed biological father instead?

The demon made him immortal. He collected his "death" which means he will live forever, suffering from grief for all eternity.
@Anon (31 October 2026 at 21:13) I love Fist of the North Star!🀣 Thank you so much for your comment!
@George Oh! What a sad theory! 😭 Perhaps he wished death upon himself! Sounds like a Silent Hill story. Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts!😊
@Anon (31 October 2026 at 21:49) That’s also possible!! That would be a very sad ending too😭 No good ever comes from casting a curse on someone. Thank you so much for your theory!πŸ™
@Anon (1 November 2026 at 10:59) Yes! That is considered to be the official answer to this cryptic story! His “death” was the payment, so he won’t be able to die anymore, no matter what happens… It’s scary to imagine what would happen to him, because while the demon granted him immortality, he did not grant him eternal youth or freedom from disease😱 Thank you so much for your comment and well done!⭐️
Thank you so much again everyone for sharing your unique theories! I have revealed the “answer” in my reply to the last Anonymous’s comment above. I hope you enjoyed figuring out the answer! πŸ˜ŠπŸ’•
