Piggyback

Once there was a family of four, father, mother, a son and a daughter.

The father and mother had grown cold to each other in recent years and were arguing all the time.

In spite of that, the family planned to go on a holiday. But the day before the holiday began the couple had a fierce fight again. The father this time got out of control and murdered the mother.

Next morning, the father left home for the holiday with the children as if nothing had happened.

After some sight-seeing the three of them sat down to rest. Then the son looked quizzically at his father and asked; “Daddy, why have you been carrying Mommy piggyback all morning?”

Hey Saya,

I really don't get this one. Did the 'mom's corpse come alive and latch itself onto his back? Or did the ghost of the 'mom' get on the 'dad's back to make him guilty?

Actually, after realising that this was under the "apparition" section, I found myself confused as well. If it was the Dad carrying the mother's dead body around, it would be in the "cryptic" section wouldn't it?

Hi!

I guess it's like in said movie, "Shutter". The revengeful ghost of the mother is sitting on the father's back to haunt him, and he cannot see it, but the children can, because children can see such things more clearly. Pretty scary...

Best wishes, Doc S.

Suddenly, I have the shudders. There are stories in my country too, about the vengeful spirit riding piggyback on it's tormentor/tormented victim. Next time I have a back ache, will you give me some advice?

Weekend at Bernies?

Easy. The father killed this DAUGHTER and took his son and wife on holiday.

When I first read this I saw is more as an expression of the guilt the Father was feeling.

In asian folklore pertaining to spirits i heard that it is believed that spirits haunting individuals often piggyback or are sitting ontop of their shoulders. This is why the individual who is haunted often feels weighted down or have pains in their back or shoulders. And as others have explained it is also believed that children and animals are more attuned to the spirit world and can see these things much more clearly.

Azee

Maybe the mum love her family so much so that even after she died, she wanna show her children how much their father loves her and his family if that make sense. Its to leave a lasting impression to the children since they are on a holiday. Just my opinion.
