Emergency Shelter

(Translated by Saya)

This is a cryptic story! :)

A certain countryside region was hit by earthquake.
I headed to the nearest elementary school building, which was a designated emeregency shelter, and decided to spend a night in there; but as turned out, it was too crowded and therefore too noisy and too warm.
When I went outside to get some fresh air, I noticed there was another building with the lights out on the same premises.
I walked over to it and went inside. It was cool, quiet and a lot of people were lying down on the floor.
I felt so lucky to have found the place and lay down in the same way as the others to go to sleep. But after a while I realised there was something wrong with the place. It was far too quiet.

I dashed out of the building.

I'm guessing the building is full of people that died.
By the way, it was really nice to get the urge to come back and reread old posts after a couple years and see that you're updating again!

げんきです。I hope it is okay to laugh at this one. But a make shift morgue would not be a good place to sleep.

Its really scary, imagine sleeping together with corpse..

omg that's crazy!!! i would totally realise they were all dead the moment i entered

Was it one of those like refrigerated places for corpses remain fresh? I am very good with words.

If that's the case I might consider sleeping there as it is cool and quiet. People probably wouldn't assume I'm dead because I can breathe.

LOL, what a horrifying realization the narrator must have had!

Poor Saya, don't work too hard! Take time for yourself (and thank you, as always, for your posts).

"Oh. So that's why this place is so quiet. Nevermind then, I'm out of here!"

After reading this i cant help but keep thinking what if the 'other people' are going to be immediately burried or cremate..

a lot of people, but still cool and quiet......

Just when the narrator said it was cool and quiet despite the fact that there were a lot of people I knew what it was about, now I wonder did they use the building to collect the people who perished because of the earthquake or all of that people died in the building the moment it happened?

Oh jeez, it seems like the narrator definitely stumbled into the place they were keeping the deceased by mistake. Must have been shocking to realize that only after having laid down!
But hey, at least he got out of there. Some disrespectful people might have just decided to sleep there nonetheless to avoid the crowded shelter LOL

Thanks a lot for this post as usual!! Hope things calm down for you soon, I know I've been having some busy weeks too - but the best part is always when we can finally relax once it's over. Take care, have a great week!

They are quiet. It is much better than if they start moving.
You're right! Well done!

Oh I think you commented before? :D Thank you so much for coming back again! :D
よかった!うれしい :D

When I see a comment written in Japanese my immediate reaction is "is it a spam?" LOL I'm glad it isn't!
And yes you may laugh XD The narrator must have been really tired.
Someday we will be one of them! LOL
Maybe if you were desperate and tired you wouldn't XD
Be careful because when you wake up you might find yourself in a crematory! LOL
Thank you for your kind words! :D <3 <3

I want to take time for myself, but then people like you guys come and bother me... haha I'm only joking! XD
Your words... really scare me!
I think they are from another urban legend?
The narrator would be buried or cremated alive!
Yes that's a giveaway!
I think the former. I think they put those bodied in there for the time being until they found another better place.
Thank you for dropping by and commenting although you are busy youself too <3 I hope you will be able to have time to sit back and relax soon! :D

Take care and be happy!<3

haha XD You're funny as always!

I'm a very light sleeper. That's why the quiet part attracted me. Footsteps can wake me up. Then they'll get scared thinking I'm a zombie.

oh, a makeshift morgue! surprising that there'd be no one on the lookout, bodies would be vulnerable to theft. on the other hand, you'd definitely be able to sleep quiety! better tell others you're there first.
