At a Party

This a cryptic story. Try to guess the deeper meaning beneath the surface.

Note: I'm not the authour of this story. I've translated it from original Japanese into English. Please do NOT copy and paste it somewhere else on the web without my permission.

The other day I organized a birthday party at home.
During the party I took many pictures, and after I had them developed, I noticed something bizarre.
One of the pictures showed a closet behind my smiling friends, the door of which was slightly ajar, and from the crack a pale-faced, red-mouthed woman peeped out, glaring straight at me.

I panicked, and immediately called on a psychic to have the picture examined.
But the guy said, 'I feel no spiritual energy emanating from it. This is not a ghost picture.'

Thank God, I was relieved.

It's glad hearing from you again!
I was surprised when I opened my rss reader and I saw an entry from your blog.

Keep it up!

The story is more than disturbing... I'm glad that it's daytime here, the doors of my closet open themselves from time to time...
Wow! It's been only a few minutes since I posted, and I've already got a customer!

I posted this story on a whim of a moment, and I was afraid my translation skill had deteriorated, but I'm glad you enjoyed the story!

Thank you Anim dear and take care!

yay you are alive and kicking!!!

and thats da same reason why i never like closets, i better have my clothes on the floor
Yes, dear HN3, I'm still alive in this dark realm of the Underworld. But I wonder if anyone really understood why this story is labelled "cryptic"?

Thank you dear, for your sweet comment!

finally!!! missed you so much!!
is that means its a real person? not a ghost? like a psycho?
YOU'RE BACK!! finally! \:D/
I don't really get it...but maybe a woman is hiding on her closet all the whole time?
Hello girls,
@Time waits for no one: I think you've hit the nail on the head, dear.
Although I myself don't know the right answer!

And you're right about time waits for no one thing, it certainly never waited for me!

@Prisilia: another intelligent girl! Is that noodle you're eating? The secret of Chinese beauties must reside in an abundant consumption of noodles.

Thanks for your comment!
Now I think I must head for bed, because it is very late where I live..

I'm so glad you are back! Hope you are doing well! :D

It took a while for me to get it.. does that mean it's simply a person and not a ghost?! :O
Ahhh yay you're alive!! :'D

But this story... there's an actual woman hiding in the closet? Ugh open closets give me the creeps.

Awww somehow I'm having trouble sleeping. Never mind.I shall reply to your new comments and then try to get some sleep...

@Luna: what a pretty name, Luna, the name of the moon goddess? Hope you are doing well too dear!

@Rien: is that your face next to your name? How cute!

And yes I'm alive.
You know, in real life there are times I don't go out for days and when I do go out people tend to greet me with those very words.
'Yay you're alive!'
And then I reply with at most politeness:'Shut up you sods.'

...No, not really.

And yes girls, I think you got the right answer!

Now off to bed, for the second time...zzzz

Hello! Long time no updates :). I hope you've been doing well!

This story reminds me why I hate leaving the doors to my wardrobe open, you never quite know what or who will be in there :/.
@NeoneRaine:Hello!
Many people have a fear of dark crevices and there seems to be lots of stories around based on this theme.

@Miss Acheron: Hi! welcome! Yes you may be right! I've heard this kind of thing actually happened in real life. A woman's ex-boyfriend hid himself in the attic in the woman's house and lived there for years without anyone noticing it.Scary!

@ForthKun: Yes, I'm still here, being loved by Fortune, with both my mind and body still intact!:D

@Prisilia: OH! Is that so! I beg your pardon. Your photo from a distance looked as if you were holding chopsticks and eating noodles! Now I've clicked on it to enlarged it, I know you're drinking tea! lol
Well, the secret of your beauty lies in tea after all, with all its antiaging propeties and so on!

Dear Saya,

Oh my Goodness, it is wonderful to know that you are alive, i thought you were eaten by a yurei or something (they do kill if they are jealous ;) ) So good to see you have this place up and running again! I thought you had forsaken us! :/ Talk about a buuuuusy schedule! :D do you have more free time now??

Tia
Dear Tia,

Thank you very much! No, I have not been eaten by a yurei, I cannot die till I translate all the great Japanese horror stories that exist in the world!!!:D
I kind of do have more free time recently. So yeah, I will be around a bit more!

I'm glad to hear you sounding well too!Take care!;)

I'd take the dead more than the living anytime. The living can do some nasty s*** and do actual physical harm... or what do I know of Japanese ghosts, though. From the movies I've seen Japanese ghosts are so disturbing they could drive people to harm themselves. I know, it's poor reference, but still...

I saw a news about a homeless woman who hid in a closet for about a year. This happened in Japan, so you might have heard of this, Saya, although it's old (2008).

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/24889337/ns/world_news-weird_news/t/homeless-woman-lived-mans-closet-year/

That's creepy.

Hmm my immediate thought was that it's one of the friends playing a trick... but that's not creepy at all!

I can't believe you're really back ; - ; I deleted my blog when I realised that you weren't updating anymore and when I visited again.... here you are posting new stories! THANK YOUUUUU! > v <
@Anon: wow I'm so popular LOL!

Thank you dear. I'm glad I'm back here giving you guys goosebumps too!

It's very lovely of you to leave a message for me. Thank you and take care! :)
anon said…
I think I have an answer. The woman behind the door wasn't a ghost, but she probably wasn't human either.
@anon: So you think she was some kind of a monster? That'd be creepy too!
Anonymous said…
hi Saya! can I post ur stories on my profile?? They are really good!
@Anon: NO. I'm sorry. Didn't you read my note just above the "popular posts" column on the right hand side?

I beg you, don't transfer my stories to somewhere else. PLEASE.
zhelopanda said…
Does this mean that the psychic didn't see the woman, who was only visible to the picture-taker, or does it mean that the woman is not a ghost?

Glad you're back, Saya! I love reading your stories. :)
@zhelopanda: What a nice thing to say, dear. I'm happy you love reading my stories! :D

I love all of your cryptic stories, Miss Saya! It's a little (too) late for me to comment on this old post but none of the theories given above that I find satisfactory. So if possible I'd love to hear your theory. Pale-faced, red-mouthed, no spiritual energy emanating, so that must be a dead body in the closet then D:
@Anon (12 April 2014): Thank you dear for your comment. I'm afraid I don't have any particularly interesting theories of my own, as you might have guessed from the comments I left above :D haha

But yeah, as you say it may be a dead body of a girl peeping from the closet. Could be the narrator who killed her!:D

The woman in the closet is your stereotypical illicit mistress/lover/paramour
