Help Me!

(Translated by Saya)

A cryptic story for you! :D

When I was little, one of my friends went missing while we were playing the game of tag.
That day I went back home but I heard he never came back.

I suddenly remembered about the roof of a certain apartment building that was reachable by climbing some stairs.
Moreover, I recalled there being a narrow gap between those buildings.
What if he fell into the gap?
I felt compelled to go and examine the place, and went up to the roof of the apartment building straight away today.

And just as I suspected, he was there.
I looked down the gap, and he yelled "Heeeelp Meeee!"  as he frantically waved his hand.

The author talks about his friend going missing "when I was little"; but only visited the roof of the apartment building 'today' (as in the present day), and it makes it sound like they're an adult now. No chance their friend from back when they were little is still alive there! Did they see their friends ghost?

Very creepy. I wish there was a way to hide my guess as a spoiler. But my guess the narrator has just seen a ghost!

Heavens, this is a spooky one! The friend fell down while they were kids, but the narrator only remembered it now that they're older. In other words, the boy was clearly a spirit... or something worse, calling for help even after all those years.

While it makes me feel sorry for the boy that fell down, one can never be too careful - maybe the spirit is trying to lure the narrator down into danger too!

Thanks a lot for this great story!! Take care and stay safe

Hello Saya, been a long time lurker but this is an opportunity to be the first to comment, so here goes. The narrator is an adult and remembered about the gap. His friend, somehow is still alive after all this time.
I'm glad you are active again. Looking forward to the next post

I do agree that the narrator probably saw his friend's ghost. Unless his friend had years or decades' worth of supplies stashed in some bottomless backpack that would have allowed him to survive for that long, there's no way he was still alive.

Imagine if the friend wasn't a ghost but was just stuck there for years and just kept calling for help but no one ever did. Maybe they did but since he grew up it is almost impossible to get him out of the gap since he grew bigger. At least he can still wave.
Hello, everyone! How are you? Thank you for commenting! :D

@Mon Amazing! :D You explained it all for me! Thank you<3

@George VanMeter Yes, sir! I think so! :D

@Gabriel Aww yes, maybe the spirit is a malevolent one, trying to cast the narrator into the same fate!

Thank you very much! I appreciate your kind comment!
Take care and may you be happy and safe :D <3

@D.Acheilia Oh! Hello dear, I'm glad you are here to comment! Much obliged!
It's scarier to think that the friend is alive after all these years than to think he is a spirit!
Oh, thank you for your encouragement! :D

@Diogo Bottomless backpack! XD That reminded me of the Japanese anime Doraemon and the four-dimensional pocket!

@CreanJinSung Awww I see your dark imagination is back, sir!
You are watching too many scary movies! XD

Thank you again everyone, have a nice day, take care and remember to smile!
Peace out! :D

Plot twist!!!!! Actually, a psychopath already found that friend of the author. He/she fed and took care of the childhood friend of the author for all of those years, while leaving the childhood friend of the author stucked in the gap

oh, i had a totally different guess! See, the narrator talks about a gap between two apartment buildings... so a gap would be a several-story drop, wouldn't it? So there's no way the friend could have survived that, so it's the ghost that's crying out for help.
