The Green Man

A while ago, my older sister, who had run away from home ten years ago and who had not contacted us all that time, suddenly came back in the middle of the night. There was only me in the house then to receive her since our parents were out for the night.

My sister seemed scared of something and she kept trembling. "Please, don't leave me alone! I don't want to go back! I don't want to go back!"She cried, and clung to me desperately. She was in a total panic, and all I could do was to take her to her old room on the first floor (which had been left exactly as it was when she left ten years ago) and lay her down on the bed.

Thinking it would calm her down, I said "I'll bring you something to drink," and tried to go out of the room. My sister cried, "Don't go! Please, please, please don't go! I'm scared! I'm scarrrrrrred!!!"

The moment I stepped out of the room, the door banged shut behind me on its own. And from inside the room I heard my sister scream, "Aaaagrrrrgh!! The green man is coming! The green man is coming! The green man is comiiiing!!"

When I finally managed to pry the door open, my sister had already disappeared. I looked under the bed, in the wardrobe, and in the loft, but there was no trace of her anywhere. We still have her tattered shoes at the front door. It wasn't a dream. She just disappeared.

Hi saya,
Interesting story, quite odd. Do you know anything about this "green man"? Is it a demon or something I just haven't heard about because it is unknown in Europe? Or does it just exist in this story? I read it twice and the second time it scared me because I imagined what the green man might look like...

Hi debbie and saya, interesting story, but it left me wanting more!
Hello!

Debbie- nope! I have no idea what on earth is this "Green Man" is! That's part of the mystery!

Bryan - true. There are many scary Japanese stories which end like this. I guess Japanese people find it more scary if stories don't have definite ends or answers, because such stories leave room for imagination.

maybe she had really died and was not supposed to be there anymore so the 'green man' was coming to take her back. she did keep saying she didnt want to go back

*Nod nod nod*I agree with anonymous at 28 Sep. 04:09.

Only,If she really died, how could her shoes still be there? Anyway, here's to another chilling story by Saya!
The Anonymous - interesting theory! thank you!

Sugar - I forgot to mention that Japanese people leave their shoes at the front door when entering a house!

Most Green Men don't seem that threatening.

I liked this story.. i always get confused as to whether the stories are true or not.. I love stories about the unexplained and paranormal.. i find it odd that so many people give credit to these things..

Hah! The Alien theory might be right. Maybe she was abducted before, she finally got home and then doesn't want to go back to wherever than alien took her. :O

Hmm, in my faith we talk of forests spirits called Green Men, often thought to be gods of the forest. I doubt they would hurt a soul though. Sorry for replying to such an old post!
