I absolutely love the Juon series!! Not the mangled American version, but the original that scared the pants off me, and fostered my love of Asian horror.
This amused me to no end, thanks for posting it and thanks for having such a wonderful, and addictively creepy site! <3
Distorted is putting it lightly. They try for creepy, and usually end up somewhere in the realm of say, Sleep Away Camp 4. I end up rolling around, laughing hysterically, and then mourning the death of a perfectly good creep fest if people would only be willing to..I dunno..READ! Subtitles win.

I loved the Ju On series, but the Americans ones were OK too... I liked SMG, and Takako Fuji was there as Kayako. *puts elbow back on Grave's stomach* Eating me will get you a mouthful of fur! Eat Catty!!!

I agree with Reika-chan... maybe this is an allusion the fact that americans take japanese movies and make them less scary and more funny?
i mean...Ju-on was lovely! personally, the original Japanese movies scare me!But American producers reckon that adding zooms in the ghost's faces and excessive screaming will make me be scared to death than atually laugh to death!
