Saya's Experience with a Ghost!

I think I encountered a ghost recently. It's not very scary but I want to share my experience with you!:D

It was last Sunday. I woke up early in the morning.

The first thing I did when I awoke was check my phone to see if there were any comments to my posts (but I think there were none. It made me feel lonely. LOL).

As I felt quite awake and didn't feel like going back to sleep, I started browsing the internet to see if I could find some interesting horror stories that I could translate.

I started reading horror stories and after a while the air began to feel a little chilly.
And then I heard noises ---- at first I thought it had started raining and that what I was hearing were simply sounds of rain drops pattering on the roof and walls of my house.
But I soon realised they were sounds of footsteps.

The footsteps sounded sticky, like the sounds of bare feet walking on a wooden floor.

I then started feeling a presence. There was actually someone lurking at the door of my room.
My room had its lights on, but the door was wide open and it was pitch black outside the door.

At this point I knew for sure that something was amiss.
I went, "Uh-oh..."

I tried to believe it was my mother but clearly it wasn't.  And I'm the only one who is sleeping on the floor, although there are two other bedrooms on the same floor.

In a panic I searched for something that might help me in the situation.
Then I remembered about the mantra my mother ( who is a devout Buddhist) taught me.

The mantra goes: ”"Om mani padme hum." It is the famous, very poweful Sanskrit mantra as some of you may know (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Om_mani_padme_hum)

So I started chanting the mantra, over and over again, in my heart.
As I chanted, I caught a glimpse of white feet and something that looked like white skirt at the door.
The thing was trying to get into my room, but couldn't.
The holy mantra was working!

After sometime, the presence was gone, and I was alone again (Thank God).
Then the sunlight started coming in through the curtains and I breathed out a huge sigh of relief.

That was all ~! :D

I've heard before that when you read ghost stories you tend to attract low-level spirits lurking around the area, so you'd better watch out too!

In the event you have attracted something unpleasant, you can try chanting the mantra I wrote down above to ward it off! (Good luck! LOL)

Very scary. Luckily my college professor was an expert in India history and culture and I learned that chant from one of his classes.
Oh you had a cool professor!XD

It was scary for me, because the door was right next to my bed. The ghost thingy was walking back and forth trying to enter my room lol. So glad I didn't die of fright! lol
It's also so cool you know the mantra. My mother told me that when you chant it your body emits invisible light that wards off the evil spirits! :D It certainly worked for me. haha

So creepy! I better start to learn that mantra just in case, although I have been reading ghost stories from a long time now anything has happened to me, every member of my family have had an scary experience, except for me haha.

I shall read all the ghost stories I can and try to attract higher level spirits and see if the caricature of my face above my bed will ward them off. It worked for rats and roaches, how about ghosts?

In my humble opinion, the best (scariest) horror stories are always the first-hand accounts from people you know/trust. And this is true here too, your ghost encounter was just so spooky!
But I can totally relate to you because I'm the kind of person who always wants to see paranormal stuff, but when it gets too real I start to praying too haha xD! I'm really glad to hear that you're okay and you managed to banish the spirit. You're legit a horror heroine now :D

And I think that the saying about how reading ghost stories attracts them is true. I'm pretty sure a spirit lurked close to me one night. Let me tell my story too:
It was about 4 AM on a Saturday night, I can't go to bed early so I was reading some tales while waiting to get sleepy, but then I started to think I was hearing something weird outside the house, so I took my headphones off. To give some context, my room is on the back of the house, and my computer sits directly in front of a window that opens to the backyard.
I found it odd because the neighborhood is really quiet at night besides the occasional barking dog, so curiosity got the better of me and I strained my ears. It also felt like I could feel someone - it's just that gut feeling, like how your house feels different when you're alone and when there's someone else there.
Then I heard it again, and it sounded like somenoe humming on the distance. It creeped me out but I wanted to make sure I wasn't going crazy so I stood up and leaned closer to the window... and then I heard it again, quite close and clear as day - it was the voice of a woman humming a tune pretty loudly. It sounded like she was right in front of my window.
I just froze. I didn't dare open the shutters nor the glass nor even risk trying to peek out through the gaps. "She" stopped soon after and I felt the presence go away, but I think I was frozen by fear for a good minute or so... that day I could only go to bed when it was well past 6 AM and the sun was already up, LOL.

I've got another experience I can tell, the one who turned me into a 100% believer of the paranormal, I think I'll tell it on my next comment.
Alas, thank you very much for sharing your ghost encounter with us!! Stay safe and take care, may the spirits stay away from you xD!

Saya, The Youtube channel Abroad in Japan (an English vlogger) has a video called Inside a Haunted Abandoned Japanese Tunnel from his ongoing cycling across Japan trip. Just thought you would be interested.

Hey Saya, by this time it already should've been known to you that ghosts have no feet :)

Sooo creepy... Talk about writing from real life... I wonder if I should visit Japan and experience a real life chill like this. =D
Oh! You're so lucky nothing like this ever happened to you! LOL
You must be protected by a powerful guardian angel or something!
The caricature of your face?? What's that? LOL

Now I'm curious about the powerful face of yours! LOL
OMG your experience is even scarier than mine! XD
I got goosebumps by just imagining a ghost woman humming a tune!

Thank you very much for sharing your story too! I'm sure other people are enjoying reading your story! <3

Take care my dear Gabriel, may the scary ghost stay away from you too! XD
Wow I didn't know there was such a video!
Thank you for introducing me to it.

There are a lot of haunted tunnels and such in Japan! I should make youtube videos of them too! LOL
If it wasn't a ghost, then what on earth was it??? XD
Sure, you can come to Japan and sleep in my bedroom! XD

It was a birthday gift to me. It's basically a drawing of me made cartoonish.
I basically look the same I did since I was a child only a bit darker and chubbier. Nobody has ever thought I didn't look like an old picture of myself.

That would be cool.

"sticky"... i never thought to describe bare feet stepping like that, but it's true, isn't it? i love hearing descriptions like that from second language english speakers, it puts a new twist and elaboration on a familiar thing!

Still... that sounded scary! ive never really had anything happen to me, maybe because i already have enough in my mundane life www. hard to haunt someone who's already got a brain full of stress an anxiety, all i can picture is a ghost seeing all that activity like, "what's with that person, are they okay??" haha. im fine most of the time, its a joke because i had insomnia twice lately: once from this site and once from like... anxiety, cyclical thoughts. but never at the same time! so thats funny to me.

im glad you had the mantra to help, just seeing a pair of feet... amazing how something so simple can get more terrifying in the right context. it makes me think of the video game Fatal Frame III because theres a ghostly pair of legs that haunt the protagonist's dreams and even her house.
Oh nice! No one has ever drawn a picture of me, apart from my four year old niece!
Well, OK, but the footsteps did sound as if the feet were wet and sticky. I don't know how else I could have described the sound! LOL

Doesn't my blog say "Abandon all sleep ye who enter here?" XD
You should be careful dear, don't lose anymore sleep. Take care of yourself!

So happy seeing u're active again and even sharing your own experience Saya!
It reminds me of my mom's experience in my home.
It was afternoon, maybe around 12 AM - 1 PM, my mom was busy in the kitchen. (Our kitchen have stairs connecting to 2nd floor) and when she's about to prepare foods on the table, she saw a feet with white dress walking downstairs.
It doesn't make any sounds so definitely not a person walking. And in my house there's only my mom and my nephew.
She looks upstairs right away and the feet is gone. XD

Oh, the feet were wet? I thought it was describing how bare skin can "stick" a bit to a wood floor. thats even creepier...

i was too excited about the updates to heed the warning so i stayed up too late reading them! i need to space these out, ahaha. but yeah im getting more sleep, thank you for your concern :)
Thank you very much, dear. I'm happy to see you here too! :D

Oh! The one who appeared in your house sounds similar to the one I encountered! Maybe the white dress is their dress code! LOL
Thank you for sharing your story! <3

i don't have something scary to tell, but i have something that almost popped my heart out of my mouth to tell.
This began in sunday morning, i've got an appointment with a barber who'd come over to cut my afro-like hair. i asked the barber to cut all of the hair until there's only 1mm of my hair lenght. then at night, when i went to the toilet while i was very sleepy after reading creepypasta, i saw a shadow with a round head on the wall, it surprised me to the point i almost fell backward. the surprised woke me up completely and i remembered that it was my silhouette which wasn't afro anymore
haha that's funny XD I'm glad it was just your shadow and not a ghost!

My, so scary! I'm glad you had a chant to ward it off. Seeing something like that would've made me faint..

Also, welcome back, Saya! I've been reading your blog since I was in middle-school but I've only gotten the courage to comment just now, haha. I'm starting college this year and I'm beyond delighted to see you again!

Also, reading scary stories seems to have some spooky effect, doesn't it. I remember back then I was reading some scary tale (couldn't remember exactly what it was, but it's about something cursed..?) and right after I finished reading it, the lights in my room went out. At that time, I thought nothing about it since my room had a huge window that was open and it was a very sunny afternoon, plus my dad is in the room with me.
But the next day I got curious and decided to read the story again.. but this time I scrolled to the comments, and saw that some people said their lights went out after reading it.

Oops.. >_<
OMG that sounds scary!

Thank You so much for the mantra!
I have a peculiar habit of going to the toilet at night when everybody is sleeping but for some reason, even though i have statues of gods in my house, i feel like someone is with me. Though now i can chant this mantra whenever im feeling unsafe in the corners of my room
Thank You Once Again and since i read all your new blog posts im reading old ones
I am glad that my mantra helps! 😆✨

i'd say not to use that good chance of safeness for granted, cuz if there's something thats actually protecting you then your kinda like using that for granted
