The Kegon Falls

This happened to a friend of mine.

She went to a place called the Kegon Falls in Nikko (Note: A famous suicide spot**) on a school trip.

Just as she was watching the Falls with the rest of the class, suddenly a woman standing next to them shouted:

"Look! Someone's going to fall! Someone's going to fall! "

Everyone in the class was so stunned and they all looked at the place where the woman was pointing.
There, standing at the top of the Falls, was a woman and she was indeed about to jump off it.

But as they looked at the woman's face, they realised it was identical to that of the woman who had just shouted "Someone's going to fall! "

They turned around but the woman who had been shouting and pointing at the falls had disappeared.
And then when they looked at the Falls again, they saw that the woman who was about to jump had also disappeared.

This incident was witnessed by the whole class, so it is a true story.

I was away for a few days and when I came back I found so many unread comments waiting for moderation.
I have replied to them all (except to a few that didn't seem to require my reply). Thank you so much for your time and effort you have invested in writing those lovely comments! πŸ˜ŠπŸ’–✨

Reminds me of a scene from one of the Fatal Frame games (the 5th one); it also has a waterfall that is a suicide spot. The whole forest has a history with it. A beautiful but very scary and sad game.

The game probably took the idea from the Kegon Falls. πŸ˜†⭐
I have never played it but heard it is good!

Thank you for commenting πŸ’–✨

How strong the memories linger. True is the strength of such emotions. The woman who jumped and shouted manifested her intense loneliness even beyond the grave.

Maybe she isn't lonely now that so many people come every day to watch her jump🀣✨

Thank you for your interesting comment!

Creepy as ever. Perhaps when she died, her ghost splits into between despair and wanting to live. Now she hopes someone will stop her other self.

I am so glad you found it creepy! Every time I post a story I get worried that people might not find it creepy πŸ˜†✨ See how desperate I am for validation 🀣🀣🀣✨

Actually it's OK. I am an adult and I can deal with it if I get bad response from my readers 🀣⭐

Anyway LOL I like what you said about the story! It's an interesting thought indeed! Thank you so much for that 🌈⭐🎡

Maybe the woman can actually teleport and just trolling the students?
Saya_In_Underworld said…
That's possible 🀣🎡✨✨✨⭐

Wheee!!! Another story with water!
This is a new information for me. I only know Aokigahara as the famous suicide spot in Japan.
Thank you Saya :)

I just realized that is indeed the case. πŸ˜†✨I wasn't conscious of it being another story related to water.

Yes, I thought you people might be interested in knowing such a spot.πŸ˜†πŸŒˆ⭐You are welcome and thank you for commenting!

For some reason this reminds me of an episode from the "Beyond Belief" tv series, about a store owner who was robbed at gunpoint by and old person, and then the really un(fortunate) store owner was also robbed again at gunpoint by another robbers just moments later.

The twist was the earlier robber (the old person) was actually the ghost of the former owner of said store who got killed by robbers years ago at exact same situation. He showed up and pretended to be a robber to demand and hide the current owners cash to prevent it from being taken by actual robbers, the cash was later found safely inside the counter under the cash register.

Then again, regrets are often great reasons for spirits to linger and maybe help others sometimes instead of being malicious.

Wow what an interesting story!
Thank you for sharing 😊🌈✨

So yes she might have wanted to warn others of the sad fate she suffered.

So, I never read this blog very much back when I first discovered it
through links on an old Creepypasta website in 2008 or 2009. I'm not sure why, but it's probably because I was looking for short horror stories at the time rather than urban legends (which don't usually have as much of a narrative and tend to be quite a bit less dramatic).

After reading through the archives here over the last few days, though, I missed out on a lot πŸ˜€ I'm glad that you've collected these stories in English, since they're so different from anything that I've read in the only two languages I can understand, personally (English and Spanish). It's fascinating to see some of the similarities to and differences from folklore in North and South America :)

Scaryyyy... Is the falling woman an earthbound spirit? 😦

Anyways, I've visited your blog since I was in middle school around 2013-2014. I'm glad that you're still active writing horror posts. Reading them feels like nostalgia for me.

Sweet regards from Tya 😁
