An easy-peasy cryptic story! :)

Because my apartment faces the road that leads to a school, it sometimes becomes the target of pranks by kids.
When I returned home from work tonight, I saw the windows which faced the road had become foggy because of the cold air outside; and I was appalled to find lots of small handprints on the window.

Kids are a real nuisance.

Ghost hands! My guess is kinda sad: maybe the spirits of children come out in the fog because maybe foggy conditions made the roads difficult to drive on and there was an accident.

When I read this, then re-read for the second time I realize it was on an Apartment, maybe im thinking too much, but i was imagining "what if it was on 10th floor?!" X'd so my best guess its a ghost x'd

I think I got ir.
When it's cold outside, it's the inner part of the window the one which gets foggy.
So the handprints have been made from the inside! Eeeeeeeep!

My first guess was that maybe this person lives on an upper floor so it would be impossible for kids to reach the window, but I think Thespookyfox answer is more accurate! Anyway, it was really nice to read a new story from you!

If you're scared of this, change your perspective a bit and be positive. What's so wrong with a handprints on a apartement windows when the story happened in the Superheroes Universe where the Superpower of Levitation is common. Well, now the tragic version of the handprints. There's a child lived in his/her apartment before, a sick child with an overprotective parents. So here's the story, the child was terminally ill, so the parents didn't let the child went out in fear of the child's getting worsened, there wasn't even TV or any kind of entertainment within the child's room because once again, the parents fear that their child would overexert her/himself by playing. So in his/her condition, all the child could do for entertainment was to look at the other children playing on the school and imagined her/himself also having fun with them...until the child finally died, never ever tasted the joy of being a child. The end.

if the outside air is cold, then the foggy side of the window must be the indoor side, so that's mean the handprint also come from inside the house.
