A man accidentally ran over a little girl with a car and killed her.

The girl was the only child of a single mother. The man's heart was filled with remorse; he went to see the mother in person and apologized to her with tears in his eyes.

The mother responded by saying,
"I don't want any money from you. But do this one thing for me --- send me these poatcards, one at a time, every month from now on."
She handed him about one hundred postcards.

He was surprised that she didn't ask him to do more, and promised to her that he would send one postcard to her every single month without fail.

For the next two years, the man diligently sent a postcard to her once a month, but then he began to forget sending them.
He sent them less and less often, until he stopped altogether.

Three years later, he was making a bonfire in the backyard when he suddenly remembered about those postcards.

The mother hadn't said anything to him at all, and he didn't want to be trapped in the past forever.
He went back inside the house, took the postcards out, and threw them on the bonfire.
He felt a little emotional watching them slowly burn, remembering the mother and the child.

But soon he noticed some words started appearing on the postcards.
Those words were apparently written in invisible ink, and were only made visible after they came into contact with the heat from the bonfire.

Each postcard was filled with the same one word written over and over again, from top to bottom.

The word was this:
"Murderer."

I don't see any supernaturalities in this, no problem

but from the perspective of a vengeful parent, that's just wasteful and useless... parent in US would have sued the man to bankruptcy and then suicide even if it was a pure accident (say, the little girl suddenly ran into the street carelessly while the mother was distracted just like how little girls died in many movies and realities, those gore videos in internet), glad I don't live in US.

Then again we have no idea of the truth, as i write before- maybe careless mom and daughter - maybe all parties are guilty, maybe just the mother's way of revenge without actually harming anyone, at least physically. I feel sad about this because this is actually happening all the time everywhere.

Thanks for the story Saya
This is not meant to be a supernatural story.πŸ˜†⭐

I think it was a way for her to remind herself what this man has done to her. She may also have hoped he would see the message.

Thank you for your comment!

It's around 8 years and four months of penance for the man. (100 divided by 12, given that he's obligated to send a post card per month).

That lady is so diligent.

An extreme pain.
Thank you for the calculation!πŸ˜†⭐🎡✨

Yes it is extremely tragic.πŸ˜±πŸ’§

I think the mother was trying to make sure the man felt guilty for a long time.
How unfortunate that the plan did not work.

A very sad read. Thank you for the story, Saya-san :)

Wow. I could see someone doing this.
I really appreciate all of your comments! Please note that I don't usually reply to comments posted at older posts. But I appreciate them nevertheless! 😊✨
I hope the man felt the effect of all those postcards as he seemed to have forgotten the accident entirely. πŸ˜†⭐ But it is indeed tragic for the mother and the girl! Thank you so much for your comment!πŸ’–✨
I don't think I could have come up with such an idea! πŸ˜†⭐

I can't help but feel that the mother is the one who is suffering the most from this action though.

hello saya-san ! i was 13 when i found your website and i’ve been reading it for 7 yrs now 😍

if i were the mother, it must be painful to be reminded of your child’s murderer :(
That's so lovely! πŸ˜ŠπŸ’ž✨

Yes but she did it herself πŸ˜†✨
Sometimes revenge is akin to self-punishement.
Also thank you so much for commenting!

short, simple, spooky!
i dont really blame the mom for being so angry... at first i thought the man was too harsh but then i realized it was 100 months, not 100 days.
I know it would be hard to forgive in that kind of situation, but we should all forgive others, whatever they have done, for our own sake. Holding onto grudge is like drinking poison and expecting the other person to die, as it was once said. Thank you for your comment!
