❤️Updating Every Saturday Evening (Japan Time)

(Translated and Arranged by Saya)

It happened around this time five years ago.
After graduating from college, I didn’t look for a job straight away, and I was spending my days in idleness.

One day, as I was chilling at home, a friend from college called me.
He asked me if I wanted to go out for a drink together.

The next day, I headed to an izakaya (Note: a bar) in my neighbourhood.
It was already past 11.00 in the evening, but I had planned to meet up with him at a late hour on purpose, since I figured that we would be drinking until the morning anyway.

I arrived at the izakaya, only to find that my friend wasn’t there yet.
I ordered a glass of beer for starters, and waited for my friend to join me.

After a while, I got a call on my phone.
It was from my friend.

When I answered it, my friend said he was not far from the izakaya, but there was a strange woman inside a phone booth, and he wanted me to come right now.

What is he on about? I thought, but he had always been someone who would say random weird things, and I became curious, so I decided to go to where he was.

As I drew near the phone booth, I saw my friend observing the woman from behind a utility pole.

What an idiot!
I thought, as I walked over to him.

What the heck are you doing?

When I asked, my friend started telling me the reason why he called me.

According to his story, on his way to meet me at the izakaya, the woman suddenly ran out of an alleyway, bumped into him, and fell flat on her face.

The woman seemed to have gotten hurt from the fall, since her legs were bleeding, so my friend asked her:

Are you alright?

Instead of replying, the woman darted into the phone booth without saying a word.

My friend panicked, thinking she was perhaps planning to call the police, and he started going towards the phone booth, but soon it became apparent that she was not making a phone call.
She was just standing there with her head down.

Her behaviour was so incomprehensible that he didn’t know how to deal with it, so he called me.

OK, her behaviour is strange but first, something must done about her injuries; we can’t just leave her there because he is partly responsible for what happened — so we both agreed that we needed to help the woman, and went over to the phone booth together to talk to her.

As I got close to the phone booth, I saw clearly that the woman was bleeding from her legs.

Even her shoes were soaked with blood.
My friend, seeing that, probably out of sense of guilt, hurriedly opened the door of the phone booth, saying:

Hey, are you alright? You are bleeding so much…

I could hear trembles in his voice.
But the woman stayed unresponsive, keeping her head down…

A long silence followed, and I couldn’t keep my mouth shut anymore.

You should really go to the doctor. You’re bleeding so badly and there’s a hospital just around the corner. Let us take you there, I said.

But the woman… she stubbornly kept looking down…
She remained still and silent …

There’s something wrong with this woman, she’s not normal.
I thought, and looked at my friend, and he was looking at my face too, with an expression that told me he was having the same thoughts.

We talked again between us and made up our minds to call the ambulance.

And then, after I used my phone to call the emergency services and let them know where we were and hang up, my friend tapped me on my shoulder.
I turned around, and saw that the woman was no longer in the phone booth.

What? Where has she gone?

Next I realised that my friend was also gone.
I quickly looked around, and spotted him running down a dark alleyway.
He probably saw the woman leave and was chasing after her.

I thought, and I also went into the alleyway, sprinting at full speed after him…

Soon, I saw him turn around a corner to the left, and I followed him, but then immediately lost sight of him.

I had turned around the corner right after him, but no one was there.

How is this possible?
I couldn’t move from shock for a while.
But no matter what, I need to find my friend…

I began looking for him again, but with no luck.
I could find neither my friend nor the woman.

There was nothing else I could do except go back to the place where I originally came from.
That was when I saw that the ambulance had arrived. I had forgotten that I had ever called the ambulance.

A paramedic was standing by the ambulance, and I walked up to him to explain the situation.

The paramedic saw me and started talking to me.

You are the person who called us?

Yes, I am. Sumimasen (Note:pardon me) , actually, the woman who is injured has disappeared, along with my friend who was with her. I’ve been looking for both of them.

When I explained that to the paramedic, he looked at me with a confused expression on his face.

Err… I’m sorry but, to be honest, I don’t understand what you are saying…

What?

Could you please come over here and see this?

The paramedic led me to the ambulance and asked me to look inside it — and I came face to face with something unimaginable.

What lay inside the ambulance were —

The bodies of the woman and my friend.

The paramedic told me that when the ambulance arrived on the scene, both of them lay slumped against the phone booth, and they were both already dead.
They seemed to have met instantaneous deaths.

But if that’s true… what were those things that I saw…?

Hello, wonderful people! How are you?

I have been sick with Covid lol
But I’m alright now! Just can’t taste anything at the moment lol

Anyway! I hope you enjoyed this story!
It makes me wonder what happened to his friend… was he already dead or still alive when the protagonist first got there?

Let me know what you think in the comments below ~

Much love! Don’t forget to wash your hands when you come home from outside (I always do too but I got it from a family member lol)

Take care ~😊🩷
@allucinator

Saya I hope you'll get well soon πŸ’œ
I had COVID once last year but luckily didn't get too sick. Please rest well and drink a lot of water.

First sign of trouble was when the narrator received the call from his college friend. Because 3 times out of 10 an old friend only contact us to sell an MLM scheme.

I believe the friend was already dead when 'he' called the narrator to the phone booth. They friend and the woman were probably murdered and the friend called the narrator so that the narrator won't be waiting long, and to discover their bodies quickly. Hopefully the authorities could still find some clues to get them justice.

Love this story Saya. Thank you and get well soon πŸ™

Oh my, please get well soon πŸ™
Drink plenty of water and have some delicious chicken soup or porridge ♥️ have some good rest too
I did that back then when I was ill with the same thing,
oh and also with lots of movies to keep you entertained probably is a good thing too πŸ‘

as for the phone booth.... Both of them simply accidentally "logged out" of the "reality" while trying to explain the situations to each other, and the narrator was seeing "bugs" of both of them. phone booth = the matrix πŸ˜†
@nunu

I didn’t know that about college friends! I’ll be careful next time someone like that calls me🀣

I have a feeling the friend was already dead when he called too😱
Thank you for sharing your theory!!

I’m so glad nothing grave happened to you when you got sick with Covid!
Mine isn’t too bad either! It’s just that I haven’t been able to smell anything 😭
But I know I will be ok eventually!

I’m so glad you love this story! Thank you so much for your kind words ~ 😊🌸

Thank you so much for kind advice! I’m drinking lots and lots of water!
I have been feeling frustrated because I haven’t been able to work out 😭 I feel bloated from lack of exercise! lol
But I’m definitely getting better ~ ✨ Thank you ~πŸ’•

Oh the good old Matrix! That’s an interesting theory ! Thank you for sharing πŸ˜†
I can’t remember the movie but I think there was a scene when they used a phone booth to move in and out of different realities?

Thank you so much for your comment ~ ❤️

Love a good phone booth story. The one that I remember best is the one mentioned in Shibuya School Girls' CURSE LIST tv series and is also one of the ghosts captured in the anime Dark Gathering. Thank you as always Saya!
@George V
I don’t know what it is about phone booths but perhaps they act as portals to other worlds😱

i hope you'll recover well, Saya!! I had covid a few years ago but I was able to get medicine since i live with my elderly parents, so it wasn't too bad. i didnt even lose my senses.

anyway, this story sure is mysterious. the narrator and his friend sure are solicitous! trying to help the woman with her injuries. personally, if a person was so desperately trying to get away from me that she shut herself into a phone booth, id just apologize and leave after letting her know about the hospital. a couple of strange men asking you to go with them late at night can be scary.

i think the friend was doomed the moment he breeched the phone booth and touched the woman.
